Four Points Bulletin

Travels north, east, south, and west of our Oceanside home base.

Maku’u Point is a located just ten minutes from our Airbnb in Hawaiian Paradise Park. There is no parking lot at Maku’u Point but plenty of parking hugging the shoulder of Ala Heiau Road. Parked behind a lone fisherman we had this area to ourselves, where not so long ago was molten lava. Moku’u Point is known for its lava flows. In 1990 Kalapana Village was destroyed by volcanic activity and in 2018 Leilani Estates was devastated, showcasing the power of Kīlauea’s unpredictable eruptions.

Beautiful! I especially like the gray of the clouds and the gray of the ocean surface.
