Oaks Park opened in 1905, it is now oldest continually operating amusement parks in the United States. The park is free to enter. Patrons interested in riding rides pay for the rides, or minitature golf or the roller skating rink do so separately. What is free of charge, and unlimited, is riding the carousel, hand carved and found on the National Historic Register.

Oaks Park roller rink is the oldest roller rink in the country. It also has the largest skating floor west of the Mississippi, 20,000 square feet skating surface. Lastly, it is the only roller skate in the world that provides skate music from a live pipe organ. It cost $13 for four hours of skating including the skate rental. The floor is as smooth as glass and there is a separate skate area for practice, and one that has a set of hills and dales in the back of the rink (called the “bumps”), which were installed in 1932. It is the best roller skating rink on the planet. If we moved to Portland it would only be for this rink.

This makes me really wish I could still rollerskate. At least you guys got to enjoy it. It sounds like a fantastic place to go to.
