Trillium Lake is located in the Mt. Hood National Forest. It offers the most amazing views of Mt. Hood, the perfect place for a test run of everyone’s new inflatable paddle boards. The maximum depth of this lake is 21 feet so, no matter where you are on the lake, you can see salamanders swimming through the water. Rough-skinned newts are one of the nineteen protected salamanders in Oregon. They can grow up to eight inches long and their eyes are pale yellow with a black bar, easy to spot while paddling around.
