Travels north, east, south, and west of our Oceanside home base.

Being that this is our first time in Yosemite National Park, one of the most visited national parks in the United States, I was surprised by how concentrated the Yosemite icons, most are packed into one rather small, super majestic area. You can see a lot in a single day at Yosemite Valley, especially if you are interested in granite rock faces like Half Dome and El Capitan. Our main event was Mist Trail, a popular, steep hike that follows the Merced River. Being from Southern California, any hike with sounds of a river flowing is a treat. These blue skies and cool temperatures is the perfect weather for such a hike. Coming in spring is a bit of a risk, since it’s chilly and there could be rain or snow, but it is worth it the risk being here when there are less tourists. Since so much beauty is in one area, there are less people to share it with.
