Four Points Bulletin

Travels north, east, south, and west of our Oceanside home base.

The San Diego Zoo recently reopened per state guidelines. Since we are members we decided to see for ourselves how the new reservation system is. Unlike the Living Desert Zoo in Palm Desert you are not given a time slot but can come at any time throughout the day. We arrived in the afternoon and it appeared as though most people had already left. The gorillas are still under quarantine, recovering from Covid, so we focused instead on the elephants, lions, giraffes, rhinoceroses, and various bird species (who are obviously much better at wearing masks). The first animal we came across was a talking cockatoo, Max, so the rest of our visit meant trying to speak with other feathered friends (birds have been holding out on us!).

Oh my, what memories. I want to go back! Talking Max is adorable and the fact that you needed to talk to all the other birds you met is so precious. What a great day! Having passes and being that close is such a great thing for A1. She looks so delighted in all the photos, too. Thanks for making me feel a little bit there. Great day for you all.
