Haceta Sea Lighthouse is one of the most photographed lighthouses on the Oregon coast. It has been aiding sea folk since 1894. Its light shines 21 miles into the sea and is rated as the strongest lighthouse in Oregon. The assistant light keeper’s house was built a year before the lighthouse was first illuminated and is one of the last remaining assistant light keeper’s houses on the Pacific Coast. It is maintained as an Inn by the US Forest Service. The historic Cape Creek bridge can be viewed from the lighthouse as well as the cliffs that disguise Sea Lion Caves. There is a lot packed into Oregon, but at this rate of travel we will never make it to our next stop in Seaside.
