Travels north, east, south, and west of our Oceanside home base.

Since Oregon welcomed us we decided to get on its third longest river, the Rogue. The Rogue begins from a spring in Crater Lake National Park and meets its destiny mixing with the ocean’s water of Golds Beach. We booked a tour with Hellgate Jetboat Excursions (best decision of the trip) in the middle segment of the river, at Grants Pass. The two hour boat tour was epic, not just because of the wildlife and geology we saw along the way but because the two jetboats were taunting each other the whole time, creating waves by doing 360s and watching as the other boat crashed through it, soaking all passengers on board. It could not have been more informative, beautiful, and hilarious.

I love the Rogue River area. Bill and I hiked there many years ago. Beautiful, but I really remember the heat! And your sun photo – is that called a Sun Dog? Whatever the name, it’s a great photo.

    1. It’s a sun halo. A sun dog are the spots on the sides of the sun.
We were there a few years back, driving through Grants Pass one summer, and it was about 117… Crazy to see it so hot when it was so green!
