Jumbo Rocks is not an easy place to book a campsite at since it is the most popular campground in Joshua Tree. I lucked out and there was a cancelation that I was able to nab before anyone else (that was attempt three at trying to be the first to book after a cancelation). We ended up with campsite 16, which is a favorite of ours after exploring the campground (lucky us). The best part of camping at Jumbo Rocks is that you can park your car and not have to drive anyway, there are trails to hike, rocks to climb, and animals to observe in all directions, right from your campsite. I think we have a new Memorial Day tradition.
