Travels north, east, south, and west of our Oceanside home base.

Across the street form the California State Capitol is the California State Library, located inside the Library and Courts Building (part of the Capitol Extension Group listed on the National Registrar of History Places). The building was completed in 1929. It is considered one of the nation’s most historically significant buildings. At the time of construction sculptor Edward Field Sanford Jr. had created the largest pediment in the country. Besides impeccable murals by Maynard Dixon and Frank Van Sloun, inside the building visitors will find a section of the California State Library. The California State Library is older than California itself. The books were collected by Colonel J.D. Stevenson and donated in 1849. The Library and Courts Buildings is just one page of California’s vast history.
