Travels north, east, south, and west of our Oceanside home base.

Heading up to our rental house in Mckinleyville we stopped in Fortuna for some homemade staples. Humboldt Distillery recently opened up a tasting room after a decade of business (creating the best selling organic vodka in California). For $5 you can taste all of their spirits or apply that money towards a purchase. We went home with organic vodka and spiced rum.

Clendenen’s Cider Works goes back a little further in Humboldt history. The Clendenen’s bought their land in 1908. Their fruit press was built and shipped from Ohio in 1916. It can make 100 gallons of cider per hour and is still in used today. Clendenen’s has been featured by Huell Howser and Guy Fieri. A gallon of fresh apple cider, butter, jam, bread, and honey ended up in our shopping basket.
