The Nutcracker Ballet is holiday tradition dating back to the 1960s. Although the ballet was first performed in Russia in 1892 (at the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg, where I saw Swan Lake when there) it was not in the United States until 1944, and it took a while to catch on. Now it seems that every song in the ballet is part of Tchaikovsky’s Greatest Hits. For us, we are only in our second year of enjoying this Christmas ballet. I like the idea of seeing it at a new venue each time and this year we decided to stay close to home and go to Old Town Temecula Community Theater. Their rendition of the Nutcracker has been recognized by the LA Times as one of the top ten Nutcracker ballets to see in Southern California. It was also featured in an award-winning documentary film, “The Making of The Nutcracker”, at the Temecula Valley International Film Festival. It was loved by all.

It looks like a great show. I need to take Lea one day. 😊

We went to Temecula’s performance a few years ago and we, too, were very delighted! It’s such a great venue and the talent. What treasured memories you are making. I love your little family.
