Travels north, east, south, and west of our Oceanside home base.

Red Rock Canyon is located just 17 miles from the strip. Who knew there was so much nature near so much debauchery? Its proximity to a big city means it gets busy (four million visitors per year!). Because of this, we weren’t able to go the scenic drive through the park (which is timed, reservation based and costs money). Instead we parked for free at Calico Basin and enjoyed a lovely hike with our whole Thanksgiving crew. From the rocks to the trees to the rock climbers, Calico Basin Trail is colorful.

Gorgeous!!! And what fun that it was such a family affair. I love it. Another place added to my “must see” list.
