The tradition on Temple Square Christmas lights dates back to 1965 when 15,000 people gathered to watch as 40,000 colorful Christmas lights became illuminated. Over the years it has grown to over a million Christmas lights. I think this year there are a little less due to the renovation of the gargantuan Salt Lake Temple. Still it is always fun to witness. With the recent rain it doubled the number of lights with the reflection in the walkway. We weren’t expecting so little snow in Salt Lake City but I suppose that is the fun of revisiting places, the weather and time of year creates a totally new experience.

Beautiful! That red is especially spectacular.
