Just like the Oceanside Pier, the Oceanside Bandshell has had several makeovers over the years, even moving locations a time or two. The last major renovation to the Bandshell was in 1950, completed the same year that Saunders Construction Company poured a 14,000 square foot concrete ‘mat’ which became a popular place for square dancing, shuffleboard and roller skating. I guess times haven’t changed too much, Oceanside Roller Skating regularly meets up here on Sundays for a “rollout”, when everyone leaves at once for a skate down the Strand. Oceanside seriously is, and has been, the greatest.
