Travels north, east, south, and west of our Oceanside home base.

With the addition of Wildlife Explorers Basecamp, the San Diego Zoo just got kid friendlier. The 3.2 acre area (built directly on top of the historic Children’s Zoo) was made possible by donors, who raised $88,000,000. Wildlife Explorers Basecamp isn’t just educational and fun, it is absolutely beautifully designed, using sustainable materials. That pretty much checks off all the boxes.

I was a little concerned it would be impossible to break away from the play area but I was wrong. After an hour A1 was ready to see more animals.

Our zoo just gets better with age.

I went to the kids’ new area sans grandchildren and decided we will go at the end of our day. So tempting to stay especially on a hot day. I was happy to see the zoo brought shows back. I love the San Diego Zoo.

    1. We are so happy with this new kids area. It is so much better than the previous kids area. You can spend hours here.
