Travels north, east, south, and west of our Oceanside home base.

The Oceanside Pier has been an Oceanside landmark for 133 years. The pier and its pier-goers have changed drastically over the years, and the pier continues to adjust to the times. It is currently closed from 10:00pm to 4am. I have found that the best time to walk the pier is at 5:00am, when the black sea blends flawlessly into the black sky.

Those images of the pier, before dawn, are beautiful and a little surreal. I honestly have never been there to see the brilliant lights, on the horizon. So very, very beautiful. I love your photos. Wow.

    1. I am trying to make pre-dawn walks a regular thing. It is so peaceful in the morning.
I am glad you like the pictures. No reason why you should wake up that early. 😉

  2. Stunning photos!! Especially love the one of the coastline with the lights still shining @ pre-dawn!! I started visiting Oceanside in earnest around 2009 – when decades-long friends (JoAnn & Carl) took a ‘leap’ and sold their home of 29-years inland and moved to Oceanside!! Many changes since then! 🌊🌊🌊 Still a great pier!!!

    1. I really lucked out with the colors in the last two pictures. Sometimes photos don’t capture colors in the sky but in this case my phone picked up even more colors!
How fun about seeing Oceanside change. I rented my first Oceanside apartment in 2007. Since then I have lived in four places, two places were one block east of the tracks and two one block west. It is a great place to live. JoAnn and Carl chose well!
