Four Points Bulletin

Travels north, east, south, and west of our Oceanside home base.

Ronald W. Caspers Wilderness Park is an 8,000 acre preserve in Orange County. They offer pristine hiking trails, perfectly maintained campsites, a nicely designed nature center, a playground with metal slides, and organized star parties. It costs just three dollars per car to enter the park. Since this is our first visit we started at the nature center. They have two of my favorite spiders on display, tarantulas.

Outside of the visitor center are some informational placards. It was there that we learned that the children of dusky footed woodrats never move out of the nest.

There are lots of hiking options but we chose the easy routes since it is difficult to hike if you are dragging your feet.

What a fantastic place to take kiddos. I had no idea. Thanks for yet another thing on my ‘to do’ list!

    1. You all would love it. So stoked to find another great hiking spot not too far from home (40 minutes from Oceanside).
