Travels north, east, south, and west of our Oceanside home base.

Tecate, Baja California is a Pueblo Magico, a designation given by the Mexico Secretary of Tourism to cities that offer visitors a special cultural experience. There are currently 132 Pueblo Magicos in Mexico, only three of which are located in Baja California. The unique thing about Tecate is that is a border town. We park in the United States and walk across the border, into a tranquil town with a decades old bakery, manicured trees, fresh made tortillas, boiling Tecate hops spewing into the air, tiles of all shapes and sizes, where old men play cards and checkers in a tree filled pristine park, and the tacos that are unimaginably delicious. I simply love this little town. We are so fortunate to experience authentic Mexico so close to our home base.

This was our daughter’s first time abroad. Although we are going to Japan this summer I really wanted her first trip to another country to be a country that I have been to over and over again, ever since I was a child.
