Four Points Bulletin

Travels north, east, south, and west of our Oceanside home base.

Waterwise Botanicals is an impeccable 20 acre nursery that sits on a hilltop off of Old 395 in Bonsall. This is our first time here, and three hours flew by like thirty minutes. We timed our visit for Free Succulent Saturday, when Waterwise hosts an event on the first Saturday of every month. They give every adult a free succulent and every child a free art kit. This month, as they prepare for a huge shipment of pumpkins, the art kit included a pumpkin, paint, a paintbrush, two spooky sticker sheets and two sets of googly eyes. The fun doesn’t stop there, there was also a few vendors, a food truck and even a Peruvian flutist. The owner came over to us while we were painting and chatted about our experience, encouraging us to pick as many roses as we wanted while we walked around. Waterwise Botanicals is an amazing organization. I can’t imagine going anywhere else for drought tolerant plants (which all of us in Southern California should be considering). Their selection is vast, their employees are knowledgable and exploration is encouraged.

That variegated agave americana is gorgeous. What a cool nursery! I need to rent a car with lots of space and take a road trip :)!
