Moorten Botanical Garden is a privately owned arboretum just a stones throw away from Downtown Palm Springs. The desert botanical garden was created in 1938, and is still owned and operated by the Moorten family. The collection is made up of over 3,000 varieties of desert plants from all over the world. It even has the world’s first “cactarium” (a term coined by the owners), a special greenhouse filled with rare cacti spilling out in every direction, blooming spectacularly unique blossoms.

Like so many wonderful places, Moorten Botanical Garden has been highlighted by none other than Huell Howser on California’s Gold. (If you don’t know the show, let it grow on you.)

Moorten’s is one of those places that changes through the year. You’ll see something different next time. That said, you captured some amazing images. What a deal for $5!!! Crazy. Great history, too. Glad you had such a fun PS escape.

    1. Thanks! I am sure we will enjoy it the next time. Plus we got a pink aloe! So much fun!
