Four Points Bulletin

Travels north, east, south, and west of our Oceanside home base.

Anyone who has been to the Living Desert Zoo and Botanical Gardens can understand why the zoo was voted one of the top ten zoos in North America (in both categories, as best zoo and as best botanical garden). It is also an Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) accredited facility, so with our yearly membership we get discounts at other AZA facilities (the Memphis Zoo is on our list this summer vacation). Since we first explored this zoo there has been construction throughout the park but it seems like the major projects are complete. Now, after entering the zoo, you can walk right through the new Rhino Savannah exhibit to the giraffes. It’s $6 for members ($8 for nonmembers) for a small batch of lettuce and an up close and unique encounter with the tallest mammals on earth.
