The Disneyland Monorail opened in 1959, it was the first daily operating monorail in the Western Hemisphere. The new monorail transportation system was so remarkable that Vice President Nixon (along with Walt Disney) gave a speech at the ribbon cutting ceremony. The ride started off at a single station in Tomorrowland, then later expanded to a station at the Disneyland Hotel. The hotel monorail station was finally changed to its current location in Downtown Disney, which is how we arrived at the park today. After racing into the park at 30 mph, we were dropped off right next to the Autopia, a perfect starting point for an unforgettable day at Disneyland.

Oh man, I love this post and your excitement at having discovered the magic of the Monorail. I love A1’s pants and pure delight. Eric in the Autopia car is hysterical. I had no idea Honda was now a sponsor. I can’t wait to follow in your footsteps in March. Woo hoo. “Happiest Place on Earth” here we come. So fun. Thanks for the anticipation boost.
