Just north of Phoenix, right along N Cave Creek Rd. at the Desert Hills Trailhead, there is a parking area for the Phoenix Sonoran Preserve, and access to 9,600 acres of underdeveloped land. This portion of property is one of the newest additions to the Sonoran Preserve. The city of Phoenix has a master plan, their mission is to protect the plants and animals of the Sonoran Desert while creating access to the land that people love. These facilities include a large shaded fan for cooling off after spending time in the desert heat.

Beautiful! I appreciate seeing that brilliant blue sky. And that’s a majestic cactus! Here in Seattle we’re experiencing atmospheric rivers – rain in record-breaking amounts. So wish we could share some water with the desert.
I always look forward to your posts.
My husband and I grew up in So Cal, so I suppose we follow the sun and blue skies!
But we need whatever rain you can spare!
There are so many cool things to see and do in Phoenix’s environs. That you for introducing us to some we have never found. Way, way wonderful.
