Pike Place Market opened in August of 1907. On the public market’s first day, farmers sold out of produce in minutes. Because it rains so often in Seattle, farmers asked for shelter. The city didn’t have the money for that but a developer with goldrush money drew up some plans and built the current market arcades, dividing the area into 76 stalls. By November all the stalls were built and rented. The market has quite the variety, from seafood venders to fresh flowers and produce to magic shops and jewelers. Pike Place market is colorful, in both character and hue. Our favorite restaurant is probably Beecher’s Handmade Cheese but there are a lot of options and we have barely scratched the surface.

Pike’s Place looks like it has everything ‘under the sun’ ☀️as well as ‘something for everybody’! What an array of food, fish, vegetables, fruit, flowers, etc.! Lively and fun! Never knew before that it all began in 1907…

We loved Pike Place Market for all you shared here. Ii is truly one-of-a-kind which is found nowhere else. I have to agree with A1’s assessment of her faves. Hysterical meowiscians! The photo of you by the fish reminded me of the first time we were there. The jovial fishmongers had tied a string to the monkfish and when I got close to it for a photo, someone pulled the string and made its mouth open. Oh man, the shrieks could be heard throughout all 76 stalls.

We always take visitors there! Lots of variety, and I personally love the artists stands for handmade goodies.
Such a fun place! We haven’t visited since before the pandemic and I miss it. And about mac & cheese – my daughter’s favorite food until she grew up and went to Japan!
It is busy! It’s probably best to wait until after summer crowds die down…
