Downtown Oceanside is a treasure trove. Artist Alley is one of many places that makes it so. The very name, Artist Alley, is intriguing in itself, since an alley typically is no place for a two year old to cruise around. This brightly lit alley, which runs behind Coast Highway between Pier View Way and Mission Ave., is full of interesting art. Some of it is appealing, some of it not (but it wouldn’t be art if everyone liked everything). I like that some of the artists incorporated the building itself, along with exterior pipes and lights, into their work.
LLLReptile is the largest and best reptile shop in San Diego county. For 25 years collectors and reptile owners have depended on LLLReptile to fill their cages and aquariums with snakes, lizards, spiders, scorpions, frogs, turtles and tortoises, along with the creepy crawlers they eat (centipedes, mice, crickets, etc.). It is like going to a reptile zoo, but it’s free and in our neighborhood. Lucky us.
I find it interesting that I have walked in your footsteps and I failed to see all you do. You have a keen eye for detail and for fun. I LOVE the reptile store and next time we are in Oside it will be on my “things not to miss” list. Thanks babe.
The reptile store is pretty epic. You would enjoy it. But be careful, you may be tempted to come home with a python!
Oh goodness! I did not know that Artists Alley existed!! That is something…’right up my alley!’ No pun intended lol! I would love, love to visit the array of art & art shops sometime in future! But, on the otherhand, would skip the reptile shop – cuz I am extremely scared (terrified!) of snakes! Not going to change that fact, I guess, at this point in my life!
