Travels north, east, south, and west of our Oceanside home base.

Platform 3 at the Oceanside Transit Center is the best place to watch trains. It is 1,000 feet of social distancing, and the trains aren’t going too fast as they approach or leave the Transit Center, so it is not too loud. The platform is fairly new, built in 2017 as part of a twenty six million dollar Oceanside Transit Center improvement project. This is one of the busiest rail corridors in the United States, so in order to accommodate all of the trains, Oceanside added a third track to the 125 year old railway. The triple track allows trains to pass each other, and so speeds up services for the Coaster, Amtrak and freight trains. Not only does it solve issues now, but will allow operators to add more trains in the future. It just happens to run right along side one of my old apartments in Oceanside (the grey building on the east side of the tracks). As much as I love the train, I am not sure how I would feel about listening to train announcements all day.

There is something so romantic about the train. The promise of new horizons… views out the window… effortless travel. This is a cool post and your ‘model’ is absolutely adorable. Fun something ‘close to home’. “Life is like a train track, full of possibilities and happiness.”

    1. We cannot wait to take A1 on a train! She will love it.
